October 1989 was a pretty interesting time in the US. Of course, we all know what happened in San Francisco on October 17th, where a 6.9 earthquake hit, killing 67 and canceling a World Series game. The infamous Herschel Walker trade from the Cowboys to Vikings also occurred in the NFL this week in 1989.

So with all the craziness occurring in the world of sports 25 years ago, I thought it would be fun to take a look at what else people were doing then. Specifically, what was popular in the movie theaters.
