The 10 Richest People of All Time

Just about every week, we read about a tech startup being purchased for hundreds of millions or billions of dollars and some 20-something instantly becoming unimaginably wealthy. This trend got me thinking about the history of wealth and who really are the richest people of all time.

Thankfully, I was able to dig up this interesting infographic from justrichest.com which runs down the top 10 and how much they were actually worth. Quite a few surprises here. I would've guessed 4 or 5 of them, but definitely not #1...

The 80's were a special time to be a kid. Modern commercialism was just coming into its own and we had awesome toys, cartoons and movies to be entertained by. Video games were exploding on the scene and junk food options were growing exponentially. Yes, we were very spoiled.

Part of this spoiling was the amazing selection of different cereals in the 1980's. Well, they weren't all that different. They were pretty much all the same, just with varying shapes and sizes and excessive levels of sugar, but they certainly knew how to differentiate them through branding and advertising.

More and more every year, it seems like a wave of pumpkin spice mania comes storming into town taking over just about everything we consume right around Labor Day and continuing through Thanksgiving. While I am actually a pretty big fan of pumpkin spice flavoring, even I was thinking the movement may have jumped the shark a bit the other day when I got an email with the subject line "Pumpkin Spice Up Your Marketing Research."

If you are like me, daylight saving time is something you've grown up with and you may have even assumed it had some great scientific and historical significance. With clocks changing this weekend in the U.S. and recently elsewhere in the world, I thought it was a good time to take a look at this time-saving phenomenon and what it is all about. 

Here are a few factoids about daylight saving that you may not have known. I was surprised to see how recent it was actually started and the real reason behind it...
